In SNL Season Finale, Trump And His Entourage Croon ‘Hallelujah’

The SNL season finale begins with hands playing a few familiar piano notes, and then we see and hear Donald Trump (Alec Baldwin) sing the opening lines of Hallelujah. Except that unlike last November, when Kate McKinnon sang the Leonard Cohen classic as Hillary Clinton, there are no tears this time — just laughter and cheers.

The marvelous McKinnon is the first to join Baldwin’s crooning, as Kellyanne Conway, then Mike Pence (Beck Bennett), with a Russian flag on his lapel, the Trump boys (Mikey Day and Alex Moffat), Sarah Huckabee Sanders (Aidy Bryant), Melania (Cecily Strong), and Ivanka (in a special Scarlett Johansson cameo, reprising her appearance last March). Grim Reaper Steve Bannon is especially soulful. And the only one missing is Melissa McCarthy’s Spicey.

“I’m not giving up because I didn’t do anything wrong,” declares Trump. “But I can’t speak for these people.”
